What is Fucibet?

Fucibet is a medication that is used in the treatment of infected eczema. It reduces the inflammation of the skin that occurs when the body’s immune system releases chemicals as a result of a skin infection. It also prevents the bacteria, which cause the infection, from multiplying.

The active ingredient in Fucibet is fusidic acid. Fusidic acid is an antibiotic that works by changing the bacteria from within in a way that stops them from multiplying. The inability of the bacteria to multiply and the body’s immune system kicking in to destroy them allows the body to rid itself of the infection.

Fucibet also contains an active ingredient called betamethasone. Betamethasone is a topical corticosteroid. A topical corticosteroid reduces inflammation. When applied to the affected area, betamethasone inhibits the release of inflammatory chemicals in the cells that cause inflammation and discomfort.

Fucibet is both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, which helps to resolve the problems encountered in patients who are suffering with infected eczema.

How to use Fucibet?

Before you apply Fucibet cream, you should ensure that your hands and the affected area are thoroughly washed, cleaned and dried. For best results, apply a thin layer of Fucibet to the affected areas twice a day. We normally recommend that this cream should not be applied for longer than 2 weeks.

Who can use Fucibet?

You should not use Fucibet if you are allergic to or have a known sensitivity to any of the ingredients in the cream. You should also avoid using Fucibet if you have a bacterial skin infection that is not secondary to your infected eczema, or to the fungal or viral skin infections, rosacea or acne vulgaris. You should not use Fucibet if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Fucibet side effects

The most common side effects of Fucibet are skin irritations which may include redness, rash, itching and burning, and reduced skin pigmentation and thinning of the skin.
